Aggron in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get
Aggron is a defensive juggernaut in Pokemon Champions, built on a colossal 180 base Defense and a Steel/Rock typing. Its Mega Evolution becomes pure Steel with the Filter ability and a staggering 230 Defense, shedding several weaknesses in the process. This guide covers Aggron's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Aggron's defining stat is its Defense: 180 on the base form, an absurd 230 on Mega Aggron. Attack is strong (110, rising to 140 on the Mega), but Speed is a slow 50 and special bulk is mediocre at 60 (80 on the Mega). That slowness pushes it toward Trick Room, where its huge Attack and Defense both shine.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aggron | 70 | 110 | 180 | 60 | 60 | 50 | 530 |
| Mega Aggron | 70 | 140 | 230 | 60 | 80 | 50 | 630 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Sturdy (Aggron) — guarantees it survives any single hit from full HP at 1 HP, great for an emergency wall or Trick Room setter.
- Rock Head (Aggron) — negates recoil from moves like Head Smash and Double-Edge.
- Heavy Metal (Aggron) — doubles weight (mostly a downside vs weight-based moves).
- Filter (Mega Aggron) — reduces the damage of super-effective hits by a quarter, stacking with the enormous Defense to make it extraordinarily tanky.
Best Moveset
Aggron's slow, hard-hitting profile makes it a natural Trick Room attacker. The main sets:
Mega Trick Room attacker
- Heavy Slam or Iron Head — Steel STAB; Iron Head adds a flinch chance.
- High Horsepower or Earthquake — Ground coverage for Fire and Electric types.
- Stone Edge or Rock Slide — secondary coverage (Rock Slide hits both opponents under Trick Room).
- Protect — doubles staple to stall out Trick Room turns and scout.
Defensive utility
- Iron Defense — pile on even more physical bulk on the wall set.
- Stealth Rock — chip support off Sturdy.
- Thunder Wave or Roar — speed control and phazing.
- Body Press-style Defense damage pairs with Iron Defense if available.
It also carries strong coverage in Earth Power, Flamethrower, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Crunch, Dragon Claw and Superpower.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Mega Aggron usually maxes HP to round out its lopsided bulk, then invests in Attack for the Trick Room set or Special Defense to shore up its one soft stat. A bulk-boosting Stat Alignment that lowers its unneeded Speed is ideal under Trick Room. Confirm the Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Mega Aggron is among the toughest physical walls in Regulation M-A. Becoming pure Steel sheds the base form's Rock weaknesses, and Filter plus 230 Defense means even super-effective physical hits often fail to dent it; only Fighting, Ground and Fire reliably threaten it. Its 50 Speed is a liability under normal conditions but a strength under Trick Room, where 140 Attack and STAB Heavy Slam punish slow, bulky opponents. On the base form, Sturdy makes it a dependable Trick Room setter and emergency pivot. It anchors slow balance and Trick Room cores, walling physical attackers while a partner handles the special side.
Evolution Line
