Alakazam in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Mega, Moveset & How to Get

Alakazam is the textbook glass cannon of Pokemon Champions: enormous Special Attack and Speed bolted onto paper defenses. Mega Alakazam pushes those numbers to a frightening 175 Special Attack and 150 Speed with the Trace ability, outrunning and nuking almost the entire field — as long as nothing touches it first. This guide covers its stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.

Base Stats

Mega Alakazam's 175 Special Attack and 150 Speed are among the highest in the format, but 55/65/105 bulk means it folds to any priority move or neutral hit. The base form already hits hard at 135 Special Attack and 120 Speed, and its Magic Guard keeps it off the chip-damage clock.

Abilities

  • Magic Guard (Alakazam) — blocks all indirect damage; superb for a frail sweeper that hates hazards and burns.
  • Synchronize / Inner Focus (Alakazam) — situational alternatives.
  • Trace (Mega Alakazam) — copies an opponent's ability on entry, which can grant useful immunities or boosts.

Best Moveset

Special sweeper

  • Expanding Force — huge Psychic STAB that also hits both targets under Psychic Terrain.
  • Psychic or Psyshock — reliable single-target STAB (Psyshock hits special walls on their Defense).
  • Shadow Ball or Focus Blast — coverage for Psychic-resists.
  • Protect — essential for a fragile attacker.

It can also run Dazzling Gleam, Nasty Plot, Encore, Taunt and even a surprise Trick Room support set.

Suggested SP Spread

With the SP system, Alakazam maximises Special Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment. Bulk investment barely helps its defenses, so build it as a pure fast nuke and protect it with positioning. Tune it in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Alakazam is a hyper-offensive special sweeper and speed-control answer rolled into one — it outpaces most of the field and threatens an OHKO or 2HKO on neutral targets. Its job is to clean up once priority users and faster threats are removed, ideally behind redirection (Follow Me) or Fake Out support so it gets to fire. Magic Guard on the base form and Trace on the Mega both add value, but in every case the gameplan is: move first, deal massive damage, and never take a hit.

Evolution Line

Abra → Kadabra → Alakazam (via trade). Alakazam Mega Evolves by holding Alakazite.
