Blastoise in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Mega, Moveset & How to Get

Blastoise is a bulky, well-rounded Water-type in Pokemon Champions. Its Mega Evolution gains the Mega Launcher ability, which super-charges pulse and aura moves — turning it into a hard-hitting special attacker that still keeps Blastoise's trademark bulk. This guide covers its stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Mega Blastoise jumps to 135 Special Attack while reaching 120/115 defenses on 79 HP — genuinely bulky for an attacker. The 78 base Speed is low, so it usually relies on bulk or speed control rather than outrunning the field.

Abilities

  • Torrent (Blastoise) — boosts Water moves at low HP.
  • Rain Dish (Blastoise) — restores a little HP each turn in rain.
  • Mega Launcher (Mega Blastoise) — boosts pulse/aura moves by 50%: Water Pulse, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse and Aura Sphere all hit much harder. This is the reason to run the Mega.

Best Moveset

Mega Launcher attacker

  • Water Pulse — Mega Launcher-boosted Water STAB (or Hydro Pump for raw power).
  • Aura Sphere — boosted Fighting coverage that never misses.
  • Dark Pulse — boosted coverage vs Psychic and Ghost types.
  • Protect — doubles staple.

Support and tech options include Fake Out, Icy Wind (speed control), Flip Turn (pivot), Ice Beam, Helping Hand, Haze and Shell Smash for a more aggressive set.

Suggested SP Spread

With the SP system, Mega Blastoise can lean offensive or bulky:

  • Bulky attacker: HP plus a defense, with a defensive Stat Alignment, leaning on its great natural bulk.
  • Offensive: Special Attack plus enough Speed (or rely on Icy Wind / Tailwind) and a SpA Alignment.

Confirm the numbers in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Mega Blastoise is a sturdy special attacker that pairs offense with utility. Mega Launcher gives it strong, accurate coverage in Aura Sphere and Dark Pulse alongside its Water STAB, while Fake Out and Icy Wind let it support a partner. It functions well on balance and rain teams, soaking hits and clicking boosted pulses, and appreciates speed control to make up for its low Speed.

Evolution Line

Squirtle → Wartortle (Level 16) → Blastoise (Level 32). Blastoise Mega Evolves by holding Blastoisinite.
