Gyarados in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Mega, Moveset & How to Get
Gyarados is a top-tier Water/Flying attacker in Pokemon Champions that pairs Intimidate with a 125 Attack and Dragon Dance to set up sweeps. Mega Gyarados becomes Water/Dark with Mold Breaker and huge bulk, ignoring abilities as it cleans up. This guide covers its stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.
Base Stats
Base Gyarados has 95/79/100 bulk, 125 Attack and Intimidate to soften physical hits. Mega Gyarados climbs to 155 Attack with a much sturdier 109/130 defensive back end — and Mold Breaker lets it bypass abilities like Levitate or Water Absorb while it attacks.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |

Type Matchups
Abilities
- Intimidate (Gyarados) — lowers both opponents' Attack on entry; superb both defensively and as setup insurance.
- Moxie (Gyarados) — Attack boost on each KO.
- Mold Breaker (Mega Gyarados) — ignores opposing abilities, so its attacks land cleanly through Levitate, Water Absorb, Sturdy and more.
Best Moveset
Intimidate Dragon Dance sweeper
- Dragon Dance — +1 Attack and Speed to snowball off Intimidate's defensive cushion.
- Waterfall / Liquidation — Water STAB.
- Crunch — coverage (and Mega STAB).
- Earthquake, Ice Fang or Protect — coverage or safety.
It can also run Taunt, Thunder Wave, Icy Wind and Helping Hand for support.
Suggested SP Spread
With the SP system, Gyarados wants Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment; its natural bulk plus Intimidate covers the defensive side, so a single Dragon Dance puts it over the field. Tune it in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Gyarados is an offensive Intimidate user and setup sweeper. Switching it in weakens both attackers, after which a Dragon Dance turns it into a fast, hard-hitting threat. Mega Gyarados trades the 4× Electric weakness for Water/Dark bulk and Mold Breaker, making it an extremely resilient win condition. Watch for Electric attacks on the base form and bring it in on a resisted hit.
Evolution Line
