Hawlucha in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get

Hawlucha is a fast physical sweeper in Pokemon Champions with 118 Speed, strong Fighting/Flying STAB, and the explosive Unburden ability that doubles its Speed after it uses up a held item. Its Mega Evolution trades the item gimmick for raw power and the all-hitting No Guard. This guide covers Hawlucha's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Base Hawlucha is all about its 118 Speed and 92 Attack — fast and hard-hitting, but frail at 78/75/63. Mega Hawlucha keeps the 118 Speed and jumps to 137 Attack with much sturdier 100/93 defenses, becoming a genuine bulky sweeper instead of a glass cannon. The Fighting/Flying STAB combination has excellent neutral coverage, hitting most of the format for at least neutral damage.

Abilities

  • Unburden (Hawlucha) — doubles Speed once the held item is consumed (typically a Seed or Berry). The build-around for base Hawlucha: trigger it and outrun the entire field for a Swords Dance sweep.
  • Limber (Hawlucha) — immunity to paralysis; a safety pick that keeps Hawlucha's Speed from being neutralised.
  • Mold Breaker (Hawlucha) — ignores defensive abilities, so its STAB lands on Pokemon that would otherwise reduce it.
  • No Guard (Mega Hawlucha) — every move used by or against Mega Hawlucha lands. This makes shaky-accuracy options like Close Combat-into-Stone Edge and Focus Blast perfectly reliable (at the cost of also never dodging incoming attacks).

Best Moveset

Hawlucha is a setup sweeper at heart — boost, then clean. For Regulation M-A doubles:

Unburden / Mega sweeper

  • Close Combat — primary Fighting STAB; the main damage button.
  • Brave Bird — strong Flying STAB; Acrobatics pairs naturally with the consumed-item Unburden line.
  • Swords Dance — the core boost; +2 Attack on top of doubled Speed (or Mega power) ends games.
  • Protect — set up safely behind it and dodge double-targeting while a partner enables the sweep.

Coverage / utility

  • Stone Edge or Rock Slide — coverage for Flying- and Fire-types; flawless under Mega Hawlucha's No Guard.
  • Iron Head / Throat Chop — hit Fairy- and Psychic-types that wall Fighting.
  • Encore, Taunt or Tailwind — disruption and team-wide speed control on a support build.

It also has Drain Punch, Roost, Bulk Up, Quick Guard and U-turn for utility.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Hawlucha wants maximum Attack and Speed with an Attack- or Speed-boosting Stat Alignment; base Hawlucha is so reliant on out-speeding that Speed is non-negotiable, while Mega Hawlucha can spare a few points for its improved bulk. Confirm the Level 50 spread in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Hawlucha is a dedicated setup sweeper. The base form lives and dies by Unburden: trigger the item, double an already-high 118 Speed, and a Swords Dance turns it into one of the fastest, hardest hitters in the format — but it is fragile and folds to priority or any unboosted hit before it gets going. Mega Hawlucha is the safer route, keeping that 118 Speed while gaining 137 Attack and real bulk, with No Guard making its coverage perfectly accurate. Both want a partner to absorb attention and supply redirection or a Fake Out so they can boost in peace. Picked right, Hawlucha is a textbook doubles win condition.

Evolution Line

Hawlucha does not evolve. In Pokemon Champions it Mega Evolves into Mega Hawlucha by holding its Mega Stone, gaining No Guard and a major jump in Attack and bulk.
