Infernape in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Infernape is a blisteringly fast Fire/Fighting mixed attacker in Pokemon Champions with a perfectly even 104 in both offensive stats and the all-important Fake Out access that makes it a premier doubles lead. This guide covers Infernape's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Infernape's calling card is a 108 Speed paired with identical 104 Attack and 104 Special Attack — it can run physical, special, or mixed sets with no compromise. The cost is fragility: 76/71/71 bulk means it folds to almost any super-effective or priority hit, so it relies on speed and tempo rather than staying power.

Abilities

  • Blaze — boosts Fire moves by 50% once HP drops below a third; a passive comeback bonus.
  • Iron Fist — powers up punching moves (Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Close Combat is not a punch but the punches benefit). This is usually the preferred ability for a physical or Iron Fist–oriented set.

Best Moveset

Infernape's deep movepool and even offenses let it lead, sweep, or pivot. Fake Out is the doubles standout.

Fast physical / Fake Out lead

  • Fake Out — free flinch on turn one to disrupt the opponent and buy a teammate a setup turn; a top-tier doubles opener.
  • Close Combat — powerful Fighting STAB; the lowered defenses matter on such a frail mon, so click it decisively.
  • Flare Blitz or Fire Punch — Fire STAB; Fire Punch with Iron Fist trades raw power for no recoil.
  • Mach Punch — priority to clean up faster, weakened threats.

Special / mixed

  • Heat Wave — spread Fire STAB hitting both opponents.
  • Overheat or Flamethrower + Focus Blast — special STAB combination.
  • Nasty Plot — doubles Special Attack for a fast special sweep.
  • Protect — survival and scouting in doubles.

Other notable tools include U-turn, Knock Off, Thunder Punch, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Swords Dance, Taunt, Vacuum Wave and Stealth Rock.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Infernape wants to max Speed and pour the rest into whichever attacking stat its set uses, with an offensive Stat Alignment that boosts Speed or its attack of choice. Because it is so frail, every point of bulk is marginal — leaning fully offensive is usually correct. Fine-tune the Level 50 numbers in the PikaChampions team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Infernape's role is the fast, flexible offensive lead. Fake Out plus 108 Speed lets it control the opening turn — flinch a threat, then immediately threaten KOs with Close Combat, Heat Wave or Flare Blitz. Its even offenses make it impossible to wall on prediction alone: a physical wall fears Overheat and a special wall fears Close Combat. The tradeoff is paper-thin bulk and a Fire/Fighting typing that invites common priority (it is weak to Water, Ground, Flying and Psychic), so it works best as a tempo-setter and revenge killer that comes in, applies pressure, and pivots out with U-turn before it gets punished. Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave give it priority to close games even when it has lost the speed race.

Evolution Line

Chimchar → Monferno (Level 14) → Infernape (Level 36). Infernape does not Mega Evolve.
