Lucario in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset, Mega & How to Get

Lucario is a flexible Fighting/Steel attacker in Pokemon Champions that can swing physical, special or both. Its Mega Evolution gains Adaptability, which turns its already-strong STAB into terrifying single-hit damage. With Extreme Speed for priority and a deep coverage pool, Lucario is one of the format's premier setup wallbreakers. This guide covers its stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Lucario has near-identical 110 Attack and 115 Special Attack, so it can build around either side or run mixed. Its 70/70/70 defenses are frail and its 90 Speed is good but not elite. Mega Lucario lifts those offenses to 145/140 and Speed to 112, with slightly better 88 Defense — but it stays squishy, so it leans on Protect, priority and getting the kill before it takes a hit.

Abilities

  • Justified — raises Attack by one stage when hit by a Dark move. Niche but free if it survives a Dark-type attack.
  • Inner Focus — prevents flinching, which neutralises Fake Out — handy for setting up.
  • Steadfast — raises Speed when it flinches; rarely build-relevant.
  • Adaptability (Mega Lucario) — boosts STAB from 1.5× to 2×, so Aura Sphere and Close Combat hit roughly a third harder than normal STAB. This is the entire reason to run the Mega.

Best Moveset

Lucario's depth lets it pick its lane. For Regulation M-A doubles:

Mega special wallbreaker

  • Aura Sphere — never-miss Fighting STAB; with Adaptability it hits like a much stronger move.
  • Flash Cannon — Steel STAB, also Adaptability-boosted.
  • Nasty Plot — +2 Special Attack turns it into an immediate sweeper.
  • Vacuum Wave — special priority to clean up frail, faster threats.

Physical Swords Dance

  • Close Combat — heavy Fighting STAB (drops defenses).
  • Bullet Punch — Steel priority, even better on the Mega with Adaptability.
  • Extreme Speed — strong physical priority for picking off weakened targets.
  • Swords Dance + Protect — set up safely behind a partner, then strike.

Other coverage includes Meteor Mash, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Earthquake, Dark Pulse, Calm Mind and Tera Blast.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Lucario commits to whichever attacking stat it builds around:

  • Mega special: max Special Attack and Speed, with a Special-Attack-boosting Stat Alignment (lower Defense).
  • Physical priority: max Attack and Speed for a Swords Dance + Extreme Speed set.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Lucario is a glass-cannon wallbreaker that wins games by hitting one stat point of investment past what walls can absorb. Mega Lucario's Adaptability makes its Aura Sphere and Flash Cannon two of the hardest-hitting STAB moves in the format, and a single Nasty Plot or Swords Dance pushes it into one-shot territory against most of the meta. Extreme Speed and Bullet Punch give it priority to bypass its merely-good Speed and clean up faster, weakened threats.

The trade-off is fragility — 70/70/70 base defenses mean Lucario folds to almost any super-effective hit, and its Fighting/Steel typing leaves it vulnerable to common Ground, Fire and Fighting coverage. It thrives behind redirection or Protect support that buys it the one turn it needs to set up or fire off priority.

Evolution Line
