Mr. Rime in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get
Mr. Rime is a well-rounded Ice/Psychic special attacker in Pokemon Champions with one of the deepest movepools of any Pokemon in the format. Backed by 110 Special Attack, balanced bulk and the screen-shattering Screen Cleaner ability, it slots onto offensive teams as a flexible attacker and anti-setup tool. This guide covers Mr. Rime's stats, type matchups, best moves, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
Mr. Rime has a tidy spread: 110 Special Attack to threaten KOs, 80/75/100 bulk that holds up better on the special side, and a workable 70 Speed. Nothing is elite, but nothing is dead weight either — it is a balanced special attacker that leans on its enormous learnpool rather than any single standout stat.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mr. Rime | 80 | 85 | 75 | 110 | 100 | 70 | 520 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Screen Cleaner — removes Light Screen, Reflect and Aurora Veil from both sides on switch-in. In a format where screen-based offense is everywhere, dropping Mr. Rime in to wipe an opponent's Aurora Veil is genuine team utility.
- Tangled Feet — raises evasion while confused. Highly situational and not something you build around.
Best Moveset
Mr. Rime's gigantic movepool supports several builds; the two strongest for doubles are a spread-attacking offensive set and a more disruptive utility set.
Special attacker
- Freeze-Dry — signature Ice STAB that hits Water-types super-effectively, a major coverage edge.
- Expanding Force — strong Psychic STAB that becomes a spread move under Psychic Terrain.
- Icy Wind — spread Ice damage that lowers both opponents' Speed, great doubles support glue.
- Protect — doubles staple for safety and scouting.
Utility / Nasty Plot
- Nasty Plot — doubles Special Attack to convert Mr. Rime into a sweeper.
- Focus Blast or Thunderbolt — coverage for Steel and Water/Flying respectively.
- Fake Out-style disruption via Encore or Taunt — lock or shut down setup.
- Helping Hand — boost a partner's big hit.
Its movepool also includes Ice Beam, Blizzard, Psychic, Psyshock, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind, Trick Room, Slack Off, Ice Shard and Sucker Punch for priority, Rapid Spin, Thunder Wave, Hypnosis, Substitute, and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), an offensive Mr. Rime maxes Special Attack and Speed with a Speed- or SpA-boosting Stat Alignment. A Trick Room variant flips that, ignoring Speed and loading HP and Special Attack instead. Lock in the exact spread in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Mr. Rime is a flexible offensive utility piece rather than a one-trick threat. Freeze-Dry punishing the bulky Water-types that wall most Ice-types, Icy Wind dragging the opponent's Speed down for the team, and Screen Cleaner deleting Aurora Veil on demand give it three distinct jobs few attackers combine. The catch is that none of its stats are top-tier, so it relies on coverage and support roles instead of overpowering opponents outright; its Ice/Psychic typing is also exploited by the format's common Dark, Ghost, Steel and Bug attackers. Use it as the glue on an offensive core — the Pokemon that fixes a team's Water-type problem, snipes Speed, or breaks a screen wall — rather than as the headline win condition.
