Palafin in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Hero Forme & How to Get
Palafin is one of the scariest physical attackers in Pokemon Champions thanks to its signature ability Zero to Hero: switch it out once and it returns in Hero Forme with a massive jump in stats. Combined with priority STAB in Jet Punch, it punches far above the stat line shown for its Zero Forme. This guide covers Palafin's forme mechanic, stats, type matchups, abilities, best moveset, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.
Base Stats
The stats shown are Palafin's Zero Forme — unremarkable on their own, headlined by 100 HP and 100 Speed. The key is that Zero to Hero transforms it into Hero Forme after its first switch-out, dramatically raising its offenses (especially Attack) for the rest of the battle. Planning around that transformation, rather than the listed numbers, is the whole point of building Palafin.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Palafin | 100 | 70 | 72 | 53 | 62 | 100 | 457 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Zero to Hero — Palafin's signature ability. The first time it switches out during a battle it changes into Hero Forme, gaining a large boost to its stats (most of all Attack) that persists for the rest of the match. There is no held item or move required; you simply need to send it out, pivot it once, and bring it back transformed.
Best Moveset
Palafin is a physical attacker that wants to spend its early turns getting to Hero Forme, then clean up with priority and powerful coverage:
Hero Forme priority breaker
- Jet Punch — priority Water STAB; in Hero Forme this becomes a devastating, fast finisher in doubles.
- Wave Crash equivalent power comes from Liquidation / Hydro Pump — strong Water STAB for bigger single hits.
- Close Combat — Fighting coverage to hit Steel, Dark and Normal walls.
- Flip Turn — the ideal way to leave the field early and trigger Zero to Hero while keeping momentum.
Coverage and utility
- Ice Punch / Ice Beam — hits Dragon, Grass and Flying threats.
- Drain Punch / Bulk Up — recovery and a setup option for longer games.
- Protect — stall a turn so a partner can pivot Palafin out and back in transformed.
- Encore / Taunt / Haze — disruption tools it can also carry.
Other notable moves include Aqua Jet, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Iron Head, Throat Chop, Outrage, Icy Wind, Surf and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Palafin wants Attack and Speed to make the most of Hero Forme's offensive spike, with an offensive Stat Alignment. Because the form swap happens after a switch, even a little bulk investment helps it survive the turn before it transforms. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Palafin is a wallbreaker with a built-in catch: it needs one switch to come online. The standard plan in doubles is to lead it, use Flip Turn (or have a teammate force it out), then bring it back in Hero Forme where its Attack soars. From there, priority Jet Punch lets it pick off weakened or fast targets without needing speed control, while Close Combat and Liquidation blow through bulkier picks. The cost is the setup turn — opponents who pressure it before the transformation can deny its payoff — so Palafin pairs best with pivots, redirection, or a Fake Out lead that buys the turn it needs to get out and back. Once it is in Hero Forme, few physical attackers in the format hit as hard with priority.
Evolution Line
Finizen → Palafin (Level 38, while connected in the Union Circle multiplayer feature). Palafin does not Mega Evolve, but it gains Hero Forme in battle via Zero to Hero.
