Pikachu in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Moveset & How to Get
Pikachu is a frail but fast Electric-type whose entire competitive case in Pokemon Champions rests on one item: the Light Ball, which doubles both its Attack and Special Attack. With it, the mascot punches far above its 320 base stat total — but its tiny defenses mean it has to hit first and hit hard. This guide covers its stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.
Base Stats
On paper Pikachu's 50/50 offenses are weak, but a held Light Ball effectively doubles them, putting its damage in heavy-hitter range while keeping its useful 90 Speed. The 35/40/50 bulk, however, is the lowest of almost anything you will run — assume it faints to any clean hit.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pikachu | 35 | 55 | 40 | 50 | 50 | 90 | 320 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Static — may paralyse attackers that make contact.
- Lightning Rod — draws in single-target Electric moves and raises Special Attack instead of taking damage; useful redirection on a partner's behalf.
Best Moveset
Light Ball attacker
- Volt Switch — Light Ball-boosted Electric STAB that pivots out safely.
- Thunderbolt — stronger single-target Electric STAB.
- Surf or Grass Knot — coverage for Ground types.
- Fake Out or Protect — disruption or safety.
It also has access to Nasty Plot, Encore, Helping Hand, Knock Off and Extreme Speed.
Suggested SP Spread
With the SP system, Pikachu wants Speed and its better attacking stat with an offensive Stat Alignment. Bulk investment is wasted on its defenses, so build it as a pure fast attacker that relies on the Light Ball for power. Tune it in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Pikachu is a niche hyper-offensive piece: Light Ball gives it surprising power, Volt Switch keeps momentum, and Fake Out plus Lightning Rod let it support a partner. Realistically it is outclassed in bulk and raw stats by Raichu, but the Light Ball damage spike and its support options give it a glass-cannon identity on dedicated offensive or Electric Terrain teams. Keep it behind redirection and bring it in safely.
Evolution Line
Pichu → Pikachu (high friendship) → Raichu (using a Thunder Stone). Pikachu does not Mega Evolve.
