Raichu in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Alolan Form, Moveset & How to Get

Raichu is the faster, stronger payoff to Pikachu in Pokemon Champions, and it comes in two flavours. Kanto Raichu is a quick Electric special attacker, while Alolan Raichu is Electric/Psychic with Surge Surfer, doubling its Speed under Electric Terrain. This guide covers both forms, plus stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.

Base Stats

Both forms share a 485 BST, 60 HP and a strong 110 Speed, but split the rest a little differently — see the table above. The bigger difference is typing and ability: Kanto is pure Electric, while Alolan Raichu is Electric/Psychic and turns Electric Terrain into a Speed-doubling sweep button via Surge Surfer.

Type Matchups

Weak to: Ground
Resists: Electric Flying Steel
The matchups below are for Kanto Raichu (pure Electric, weak only to Ground). Alolan Raichu adds the Psychic type: it gains a useful Psychic STAB but picks up extra weaknesses to Bug, Ghost and Dark on top of Ground.

Abilities

  • Static / Lightning Rod (Kanto Raichu) — paralysis on contact, or Electric-move redirection with a Special Attack boost.
  • Surge Surfer (Alolan Raichu) — doubles Speed in Electric Terrain, making it one of the fastest sweepers in the game on a terrain team.

Best Moveset

Fast special attacker

  • Thunderbolt — main Electric STAB.
  • Volt Switch — pivot and momentum.
  • Surf or Focus Blast — coverage.
  • Fake Out, Protect or Nasty Plot — support or setup.

Alolan Raichu can lean on its Psychic STAB and Electric Terrain support; both forms appreciate Encore and Helping Hand.

Suggested SP Spread

With the SP system, Raichu wants Special Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment. Alolan Raichu can ease off Speed investment if you run an Electric Terrain setter, since Surge Surfer already doubles it. Confirm the numbers in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Kanto Raichu is a straightforward fast Electric attacker with Volt Switch momentum and Fake Out support. Alolan Raichu is the more build-around option: paired with an Electric Terrain setter it becomes a terrifyingly fast Surge Surfer sweeper, and its Psychic typing adds coverage. Both are frail, so they want speed control or terrain backing them rather than trading hits.

Evolution Line

Pichu → Pikachu → Raichu (using a Thunder Stone). An Alolan Raichu results from evolving an Alolan Pikachu lineage. Raichu does not Mega Evolve.

How to Get Raichu in Pokemon Champions

  • Evolve Pikachu — use a Thunder Stone on Pikachu to get Raichu.
  • Roster Ranch recruitment — available during the Regulation M-A season (around April–June 2026); permanently recruitable with Teammate Tickets.
  • Transfer via Pokemon HOME — move a Raichu from another title into Pokemon Champions.
