Samurott in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Hisuian Form & How to Get
Samurott is a strong Water-type attacker in Pokemon Champions that comes in two very different flavours. The original Unovan form is a bulky mixed special attacker leaning on 108 Special Attack, while the Hisuian form turns Water/Dark with the Sharpness ability and a faster, physical, slicing-move identity. This guide covers both forms, plus stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.
Base Stats
Unovan Samurott is the bulkier of the two — 95 HP and a strong 108 Special Attack on top of 100 Attack — but a slow 70 Speed and weak 70 Special Defense. Hisuian Samurott rebalances into a faster physical attacker: 90 HP, 108 Attack, 85 Speed and a slightly trimmed Special Attack. With Sharpness on the Hisuian form, its slicing STAB hits about 50% harder, making the physical set the bigger threat.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samurott (Shell Armor) | 95 | 100 | 85 | 108 | 70 | 70 | 528 |
| Samurott (Sharpness) | 90 | 108 | 80 | 100 | 65 | 85 | 528 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Torrent (both forms) — powers up Water moves by 50% below one-third HP. Passive backup ability.
- Shell Armor (Unovan) — blocks critical hits, a small reliability bonus.
- Sharpness (Hisuian) — boosts slicing moves such as Aqua Cutter and Air Slash by about 50%. This is the build-around ability for the Hisuian form.
Best Moveset
Hisuian Sharpness wallbreaker
- Liquidation — heavy physical Water STAB with a Defense-drop chance.
- Air Slash — Sharpness-boosted Flying coverage that hits Grass and Fighting answers.
- Aqua Jet — priority STAB to pick off weakened, faster threats.
- Sucker Punch (via the Dark typing) or Protect — priority or safety.
Unovan mixed attacker
- Hydro Pump / Surf — single-target or spread special Water STAB.
- Ice Beam or Blizzard — coverage against Grass and Dragon types.
- Flip Turn — chip-and-pivot to keep momentum.
- Protect — doubles staple.
Both forms can run Swords Dance, Knock Off, Superpower, Icy Wind, Encore, Taunt, Helping Hand and Tera Blast.
Suggested SP Spread
With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Hisuian Samurott wants Attack and Speed with an offensive Stat Alignment for a Swords Dance or Sharpness set; the Unovan form invests in Special Attack and HP and can use a slow Alignment for Trick Room. Confirm your Level 50 numbers in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
The two Samurott forms occupy different niches. Hisuian Samurott is the more popular pick: Sharpness-boosted Liquidation and Air Slash plus Aqua Jet priority make it a fast, well-rounded physical attacker that punishes the Grass- and Fighting-types its Water/Dark coverage is built to hit, and Sucker Punch gives it a second priority option for revenge kills. The Unovan form is a bulkier mixed special attacker that pivots with Flip Turn and trades raw speed for the safer Water typing and Shell Armor's crit immunity. Pick Hisuian when you want a self-sufficient physical breaker, and Unovan when you want a bulky pivot or a slow Trick Room hitter.
Evolution Line
Oshawott → Dewott (Level 17) → Samurott (Level 36). The Hisuian form comes from a Hisuian Dewott. Samurott does not Mega Evolve.
