Steelix in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Mega, Moveset & How to Get
Steelix is a near-impenetrable physical wall in Pokemon Champions. Its Steel/Ground typing and 200 Defense already make it brutal to break with physical moves, and Mega Steelix climbs to an absurd 230 Defense with 125 Attack and Sand Force. This guide covers its stats, matchups, best moveset, an SP spread and how to get it.
Base Stats
Steelix's 200 Defense (230 as a Mega) is among the highest in the game, and Mega Steelix adds real offense at 125 Attack while keeping Sturdy-level physical bulk. Its 30 Speed and weaker 65/95 Special Defense are the trade-offs — it walls physical attackers but dislikes special hits.
| Form | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe | BST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steelix | 75 | 85 | 200 | 55 | 65 | 30 | 510 |
| Mega Steelix | 75 | 125 | 230 | 55 | 95 | 30 | 610 |
Type Matchups
Abilities
- Sturdy (Steelix) — survives a hit from full HP, guaranteeing it gets to act.
- Rock Head — removes recoil (e.g. from Double-Edge).
- Sand Force (Mega Steelix) — boosts Rock, Ground and Steel moves in a sandstorm.
Best Moveset
Physical wall / attacker
- Earthquake or High Horsepower — Ground STAB.
- Heavy Slam / Iron Head — Steel STAB (Heavy Slam is huge given Steelix's weight).
- Stealth Rock — set hazards from behind its bulk.
- Body Press or Protect — turn that 200+ Defense into damage, or play safe.
It also has Stone Edge, Dragon Tail and Iron Defense.
Suggested SP Spread
With the SP system, Steelix wants HP and Special Defense (its physical Defense is already maxed by nature) with a bulky, slow Stat Alignment — being slow suits Trick Room too. Tune it in the team builder.
Competitive Role in Regulation M-A
Steelix is a physical wall and hazard setter that, as a Mega, doubles as a hard-hitting attacker. It hard-walls physical attackers, sets Stealth Rock, and threatens back with STAB Earthquake or Body Press scaling off its monstrous Defense. Pair it with a special wall or redirection to cover its softer special side, and it anchors bulky and Trick Room teams.
Evolution Line
Onix → Steelix (trade holding a Metal Coat). Steelix Mega Evolves with Steelixite.
