Toxapex in Pokemon Champions: Stats, Best Moveset & How to Get

Toxapex is the textbook defensive wall of Pokemon Champions. With 152 Defense, 142 Special Defense and Regenerator, it shrugs off attacks from both sides, recovers a third of its HP every time it pivots, and grinds opposing teams down with chip damage and Toxic Spikes. This guide covers Toxapex's stats, type matchups, abilities, best moveset, an SP spread, its role in Regulation M-A doubles, and how to get it.

Base Stats

Toxapex's defensive stats are absurd: 152 Defense and 142 Special Defense on top of recovery moves make it almost impossible to break with neutral hits. The trade-off is a tiny 50 HP and weak offences (63 Attack, 53 Special Attack), so it deals chip rather than damage. The 35 Speed means it acts last, which is fine for a wall and even useful under Trick Room.

Abilities

  • Regenerator — restores a third of its HP on switch-out. This is the standard ability and the reason Toxapex is so hard to wear down; it can pivot in, soak a hit, and leave fully healthy.
  • Merciless — moves always crit a poisoned target. Niche in doubles, but it turns Toxapex's weak attacks into guaranteed crits against anything it has badly poisoned.
  • Limber — immunity to paralysis. Rarely chosen over Regenerator.

Best Moveset

Toxapex is a support wall, not an attacker. Its job is to disrupt, poison and stay alive.

Defensive wall / Toxic Spikes

  • Scald — Water STAB with a burn chance that cripples physical attackers.
  • Toxic Spikes — lays poison hazards so the whole opposing side erodes over the match.
  • Recover — full reliable healing to back up its enormous bulk.
  • Haze or Protect — Haze wipes opposing stat boosts; Protect scouts and stalls.

Disruptive support

  • Wide Guard — blocks spread moves to protect a fragile partner in doubles.
  • Light Screen — eases special pressure for the team.
  • Knock Off — removes items while chipping, great utility from a wall.

Other learnset options include Sludge Bomb, Liquidation, Ice Beam, Icy Wind (speed control), Iron Defense and Substitute.

Suggested SP Spread

With the Champions SP system (66 points, max 32 per stat), Toxapex wants to lean into its bulk. Max HP is the single biggest payoff because its raw HP stat is so low, then split the rest between the two defenses depending on what your team most needs walled, with a defensive Stat Alignment that lowers its unused Attack or Special Attack. Tune the exact Level 50 numbers in the team builder.

Competitive Role in Regulation M-A

Toxapex is the format's premier defensive pivot. It is not a win condition — it is a wall that buys turns, sets Toxic Spikes, spreads burns with Scald, and refuses to die thanks to Regenerator and Recover. In doubles it shines on bulky balance and stall cores, using Wide Guard and Light Screen to keep frailer partners alive while the opposing team slowly poisons itself. Its weakness to Psychic, Ground and Electric, plus its passive offence, mean it can be pressured by strong special attackers and is dead weight against teams that ignore hazards, so it pairs best with partners that punish the switches it forces.

Evolution Line

Mareanie → Toxapex (Level 38). Toxapex does not Mega Evolve.
